Lawns

Lawn landscaping and grass seeding

A good lawn depends on the ground underneath it. We clear the old surface, deal with levels and drainage, prepare the soil, then lay turf or sow seed.

Patio and newly laid lawn in a back garden

Lawn landscaping

New lawns laid from turf, shaped with clean edges against patios, paths, sleepers and borders. Turf gives you a usable lawn within weeks and suits most family gardens.

Grass seeding

Seed costs less on larger areas and suits patching and overseeding. It needs longer to establish, plus watering and staying off it while it grows. We'll tell you which suits your garden and the time of year.

Re-turfing old lawns

Worn, bumpy or weed-filled lawns lifted and replaced, often alongside a new patio.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

When is the best time to lay a new lawn?

Turf can go down most of the year, apart from frozen or very dry spells. Seed does best in spring and early autumn.

Can you level a bumpy garden first?

Yes. Levelling and preparing the ground is part of the job. See grading and resloping (/services/retaining-walls-levelling).
